The Chocolate Chip Cookie

I remember seeing a poster that had a bunch of cookies on it with the saying, "I never met a chocolate chip cookie I didn't like." Well I have! Whenever I taste a chocolate chip cookie made from any other recipe than this one, it just doesn't cut it for me. These cookies not only taste good, but look attractive. They freeze well. (I know when Jared opens the freezer at mom's house, that's what he's looking for. He will eat these frozen cold!) Warm right out of the oven is best of course! Mom would time these coming out of the oven just when we would be coming home from school. If I was there when she was baking them she was always nice enough to give me a few chocolate chips in a little plastic cup. What is the origin of this recipe, anyone know? I know mom always put pecan pieces in these cookies, but I leave them out. Mom also cools her cookies on a brown paper grocery bag cut to lay flat on the counter. I use a wire rack most of the time since I never have paper bags!

Here is the recipe :

Cream together:

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/3 cups Crisco

Add:
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Mix thoroughly.
Add dry ingredients that have been sifted together:
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Stir in 2 cups chocolate chips

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets (I use a cookie scoop)
Bake for 10 minutes. Cool. Get the Milk!
